Electronic Voting and Virtual Meetings

Map of Virtual Meeting Statutes

One of the impacts of COVID-19 is the increased number of virtual community association meetings. To see both a state's current status of virtual meetings and statutes governing electronic voting, please click on a state below. The states with electronic voting are bolded and have an asterisk (*) after the state name.

  • Green states  - Remote meetings are contingent on an association’s governing documents, charter, and bylaws. If governing documents are silent, the state nonprofit or business corporation act allows remote and virtual meetings
  • Blue states  - A state statute governing community associations allows for remote or virtual meetings.
  • Gray states  - Emergency powers enacted by the COVID-19 state of emergency allow associations to meet remotely or virtually.
  • Khaki states  - There are no applicable statutes. Remote meetings contingent on an association’s articles of incorporation, charter, and bylaws.
