North Carolina Attorney Honored with Lifetime Contribution Award by the College of Community Association Lawyers

Jim Slaughter presented with the Don Buck Lifetime Contribution Award as a legal trailblazer and thought leader shaping the future of community association law. 

Jim Slaughter, president of Law Firm Carolinas’ six offices, has been honored with the Don Buck Lifetime Contribution Award at the Community Association Law Seminar in Las Vegas in February. The award, presented by Community Associations Institute's College of Community Association Lawyers (CCAL), recognizes attorneys who demonstrate exceptional commitment to the community association industry. 

Slaughter's remarkable career is underscored by numerous achievements and contributions to the field. He has served as a past president of both CCAL and  the North Carolina Chapter of CAI. With a passion for education and advocacy, Slaughter has actively participated in drafting and advocating for common-sense community association legislation and has authored several books on parliamentary rules and procedures, including the widely acclaimed Robert's Rules of Order Fast Track.

The Don Buck Lifetime Contribution Award, named in honor of the esteemed Gurdon "Don" Buck, is presented periodically at the discretion of the CCAL Board of Governors to those who demonstrate a commitment to the community association industry. Slaughter's receipt of this award underscores his significant impact on the industry and his commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and leadership.
