Legislative Action Committees

Overview

Legislative Action Committees work to monitor state legislation, educate lawmakers, and protect the interests of those living and working in community associations. Each committee is comprised of homeowner leaders, community managers, and representatives from community association business partners who graciously volunteer their time.

States with Legislative Action Committees are highlighted in blue below. Click in to each state to discover more about their Legislative Action Committees and state resources.

State LACs conduct fundraisers like the Dollar-a-Door or More campaign to increase advocacy efforts. Individual and corporate donations are allowed and greatly appreciated.

Federal Legislative Action Committee

This committee represents CAI members in federal advocacy that focuses on the United States Congress, administrative agencies, and other regulatory bodies.

Contribute to your Legislative Action Committee

Legislative Action Committees (LACs) are diverse groups of homeowner leaders, community managers, and representatives from community association business partners that provide perspective to legislators on how proposed legislation could impact people living and working in community associations.

Issues Advancement Fund (IAF)

What is the Issues Advancement Fund?

CAI's Board of Trustees established the Issues Advancement Fund to help support and advance CAI's legislative, regulatory and legal advocacy efforts and programs. It was established to provide a resource base to enable CAI to respond to challenges, which, if unmet, could undermine community associations, their residents and member professionals. The Issues Advancement Fund works to support efforts at both the state and federal levels.

Who can contribute to the IAF?

The Issues Advancement Fund accepts voluntary contributions from individuals, associations and businesses that wish to directly support CAI's government affairs initiatives. Donations to the IAF may be deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses, but are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.

How can you help?

If you want to help CAI succeed in future legislative and regulatory issues, you are encouraged to send a contribution to:
